Washing



  • Stains can only get off when it is fresh. Always use 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar to water before washing clothes to clear these types of difficulties. Always separate white colored clothes while washing.
  • Use hot water for washing white clothes and linens.
  • Use warm water for jeans and denims.
  • Use cold water for delicate cloths such as inner wears.
  • Before washing makes clothes inside out and finally check the pockets.
  • Vinegar, borax, lemon juice, petroleum jelly and Epsom salts are popular choices as remedies.
  • Curry Stains on clothes - dab with detergent solution and soak in hydrogen peroxide.
  • Crayon stains - dab with spirit and wash. Remove excess crayon powder on the cloth before dabbing.
  • Cooking fat stains - spread bicarbonate soda and leaves for 30mins and wash. 
  • Gum or adhesive material - dab with nail polish remover. 
  • Coffee or tea stains - soak in a solution of one part of vinegar and 2 parts of water or soak in the borax solution. 
  • Chewing gum on cloth - freeze the cloth chewing gum will become hard then break it. 
  • Chocolate stains - soak in borax solution for 1 hour and wash. 
  • Wax stain - keep a paper under the stain and use the hot iron box.
  • Blood stains - soak in salt water, when blood stains are wet.
  • Bird droppings - scrape the excess droppings on cloth and dab with borax then wash with the detergent solution. If still exists, try chlorine bleach or Hydrogen peroxide.
    Juice stains- rinse in cold water and soak in the borax solution. 
  • Ink stains - dab spirit using white cloth or soak in warm milk and wash. 
  • Fruit stains- If fresh fruit, soak in borax solution for 20mins and cover with salt then wash. If dry fruit, damp with lemon juice and wash with hot water.
  • Grease stains – These stains will easily go off by brushing with corn starch or baby powder.Also you can dab with spirit and wash.
  • Lipstick stains- Rub with soap or detergent.dab with spirit and wash.
  • Paint stains - dab with white spirit and wash.
  • Red wine stains- use soda water to wash.
  • Rust stain - damp with lemon water leave for 15mins and wash. 
  • Shoe polish - dab with white spirit and wash. 
  • Dirt stains on the collar - brush with shampoo and wash. Shampoo is good for dissolving body oils.
